Maison Verniers is written by a descendant of the Verniers family. I am an amateur historian and have been working on the history of my family for more than ten years: in archives, in old deeds and in what earlier generations collected. An important starting point was the work of R.M. Verniers, a cousin of my father, who researched the family archive in Weesp in the 1970s — more about this in the Acknowledgements.

Why anonymous?

I deliberately choose not to appear on this site by name. The stories are about the Verniers family through the centuries, not about the narrator. Nor should the reliability of this site depend on who I am, but on the sources: every claim can be traced to a deed, a register or a publication, and the method is described on the Methodology page.
